at Seabrook House, is a new residential program constructed adjacent to
the present Seabrook House 40 acre main estate. Seabrook House was founded
in 1974 by Jerry and Peg Diehl. Their mission was to provided addiction
treatment
services to every family that needed help. Today, MatriArk is a completely
separate program from Seabrook House's core adult residential services.
It provides comprehensive substance abuse treatment to positively change
the entire life pattern of addicted mothers and their children. Pregnant
or postpartum women entering the MatriArk program for alcohol and drug
dependence, bring their infants and children up to age 12 with them. Length
of stay in the residential program is up to 12 months, with all medical
and mental health needs provided. Licensed for 48 adult female beds and
a maximum of 80 child beds. Social service and judicial systems work with the MatriArk program with the goal of preserving the family unit. Children already lost to the foster care system are often reunited with their mothers during their stay. MatriArk is a gender specific, culturally sensitive, "woman for woman" program, which addresses the total woman and her family. |
